The HMS 7th A Lady Roos traveled across town for the Darla Jefferson Polk Tournament this weekend.
In Friday's game, the girls took on the Burleson Kerr Lady Cougars. The Lady Roos matched up well in the first half, but first game jitters got the best of them and the game got away from us.
Saturday morning, the Lady Roos faced Tison and came into the gym with focus and determination, taking a quick lead, holding Tison scoreless in the first quarter and never looking back. Putting forth a great defensive and offensive effort, the HMS Lady Roos rolled to an impressive victory of 47-11. Working the offensive and spreading the court, each team member was able to get on the board. Grace Clark led scorers with 9 points, Brooklyn Patton brought in 8, Rhianna White and Lindsey Franklin contributed 6 each, Grace Larvin added 4, Kaley Horton with 3 points, and Kaylee Thompson, Chandler Crippen, Lindy Willmott, and Logan Mays each chipped in 2.
With a new-found confidence, the Lady Roos challenged the Burleson Hughes Lady Huskies and continued the steamroll. Playing with a tenacious defensive effort and a quick release on the shot, the Lady Roos claimed the Consolation title with an emphatic 50-10 victory. Grace Clark led the scoring effort with 11 points, including a Happy-Birthday-To-Grace 3-pointer, Rhianna White posted up for 10 points, Logan Mays added 7 points, Lindsey Franklin had 6, Kaylee Thompson contributed 5 points, Brooklyn Patton had 4, Lindy Willmott had 3 points, and Chandler Crippen and Grace Larvin chipped in 2 each.
Way to go, Ladies -- we're off to a great start!
